Newer, better coat for my dog :)

Newer, better coat for my dog :)

Hello everybody,

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you started it safely and happily. If not, I wish you a happy, healthy and wonderful new year.

Secondly, I wanted to share with you my dog’s new coat. You might remember the first time I made him a coat – if not, here’s the link. Read the rest of this entry »

A new coat for my dog

A new coat for my dog

I have been buying coats for my dog for a few years now because he’s the type who feels the cold a lot, but now it’s a matter of severe arthritis and we really need to keep him warm. One of the problems of the coats you find for sale is that the velcro doesn’t hold after a while. Another problem, this time concerning our dog, is that he is on steroids for a brain inflammation and he has inevitably put on a lot of weight so the usual coat sizes on sale won’t fit around his stomach. So I decided I would make one for him. I had some grey Aran left over from the dress and a new ball of beige (both from the Kirkton House Rustic line) and started measuring my dog, Nemo.

When you’re working on something and you finish your yarn! -.-

Hello everybody,

Hope you are all well and that you had a great holiday period and that you started the new year with positive things! I’m not happy to say that I started my year stranded at the party place by the taxi we’d booked, but that’s another story!

A scarf to go with the hat and mittens

A scarf to go with the hat and mittens

It’s always nice to have a whole set of woollen winter warmers and since I had a lot of that lovely beige wool with brown specks left over, I decided to make a scarf to go with the button hat and fingerless mittens (and by the way, I still have quite a bit of it left! Any ideas what I could make next to add to the set?)

The first beanie hat

The first beanie hat

If you’ve read my first post, you’ll remember that I have two pictures there of the same mittens but in different colours. Well, of course, by then I wanted to add to the set (please note that I hadn’t made the mittens in this colour until I’d first made this hat and a scarf (to be posted about later).

First project after resuming the hobby

First project after resuming the hobby

I restarted knitting in summer of this year (2013) and mum suggested I start with an easy pattern, especially since I’d never used a pattern before.

After browsing the internet for patterns, I found a really nice (and free) one for fingerless gloves. I’m a huge fan of these types of gloves and during winter time, it’s very rare for anyone to see me without them!
